We have some brilliant news to share. Magna Carta Rum has just been awarded a Silver Medal scoring 90 points at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).
What is the IWSC?
The IWSC has set the global standard for wine and spirit quality since 1969. Expert judges including master distillers, buyers, and sommeliers — blind-taste every entry. They score each spirit on a 100-point scale. Medals go only to spirits that meet strict score thresholds, so a 90-point Silver is a genuine mark of distinction.
What the judges said
The panel described Magna Carta Rum with real precision:
“Delicate herbaceous aromas lead to a smooth palate rich with warm Tonka bean sweetness, culminating in a lingering, balanced finish that reveals complexity throughout.”
The Tonka bean has always been central to this recipe. Warm, rich, and subtly exotic it gives the rum its character. Having that acknowledged by judges of this calibre means a great deal to us.
Our rum, our story
Magna Carta Rum is a small-batch spiced rum from Runnymede, Surrey. We draw inspiration from the history of the Magna Carta and the landscape that surrounds it. Premium Dominican Republic rum forms the base. We then spice it with a hand-selected blend of botanicals that reflects the boldness of that heritage.
A growing collection of awards
This IWSC Silver joins our existing awards from the London Spirits Competition and Great Taste Awards. British artisan spirits are more than holding their own on the world stage — and this result proves it.
Magna Carta Rum is available now from our website and on Amazon UK. Raise a glass this one is worth celebrating.
